1) Family & Young Adult Consulting

I will listen to you and your young adult about your current situation and desire for change. Based on your information, your young adult’s challenges and desires, I will lead you through a process to determine next step options to turn your current situation around to a positive one. I use The Transition Treatment Plan tool I designed, a structured framework. This process can be helpful with resources (Medicaid, etc.) available or not. I use my experiential knowledge (having an adult son with autism) and my professional experience for many years with many young adults with autism. I have experience in supported employment, facilitating college supports, and increasing interdependent living skills.

I can also be helpful in guiding you and your young adult to use strengths or talents in creative ways and learning. My qualitative research provided me with rich information in how parents guided their young adult in special talents. I have personal experience in guiding and providing supports that enabled my son Trent to pursue his love to paint. I learned through trial and error, and gained much insight to pass onto you in your particular situation.  We can meet in face-to-face or via phone consult.

1/2 hour $75.00 

2) Family & Young Adult Consulting: The  Capability Approach with the Broad Creative Support System  (includes two meetings, one for interview and the other for presenting findings of the evaluation.)  I spend hours analyzing all the data from everybody’s input (at times,  there are five raters).  

You will complete the CAIS rating scale on your son/daughter. Many high functioning young adults have provided feedback to include in the evaluation. Other written documentation will need to be provided in order that I have important qualitative and quantitative information.  This consultation can be conducted via phone, email, or in face-to-face.

The findings that are so personal to your young adult, his preferences, his intensity in need for supports, his strengths, and capability can be helpful to service providers, such as job coaches, community living support persons, etc.
